Media Updates Regarding the Markeis McGlockton Case
National civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump has been retained by the girlfriend of Markeis McGlockton, an unarmed black man who was shot and killed outside a Clearwater convenience store while defending his family.
Michael Drejka, a man with a reported history of harassing other people of color, confronted McGlockton’s girlfriend, Britany Jacobs, and demanded that she move her “f—— car” from a handicapped-accessible parking space. When McGlockton came out of the convenience store, he intervened to defend Jacobs. Then the couple’s young children and Jacobs watched in horror as Drejka shot and killed McGlockton while he tried to protect his family from Drejka’s rage.
